Chapter Fifty: I Quit
Ladies and gentlemen, I have decided to quit rockandroll, music, and performance for life.

I'll explain. We've just seen (and played) two shows with Rufus Wainwright. I don't know where to begin. His songs are incredible, his voice other-worldly and his band... good lord, his band. Every single member of his band plays nineteen instruments and sings pitch-perfectly. As the show goes on, each band member comes forward and throws a fistful of amazement, jealousy, and depression into my simmering emotional broth until the cauldron boils over and I run from the venue screaming to holy heaven, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF SANITY, PLAY ONE BAD NOTE!"

OK, I've calmed down. Damian bought me a pumpkin-spice doughnut (damnit!) and convinced me not to quit. He said it would be way too hard to find another guitarist/computer programmer/nerd named Andy before our Fuse appearance. I understand... it's in about twenty minutes. Go find a television, people!

Love,
Rusty

I wish that I were there at Fuse to see you guys! I was actually interning this summer, but alas, I am now in Berlin, Germany. Which reminds me, you guys should come touring here...

I'm glad you didn't quit, Rusty. It would've been quite sad if you did! :) And not only that, but the power of the OK Go dance I'm sure can equal the power of Rufus Wainwright. (Well, I've never seen him live before...)

Wow, I just saw you guys on fuse awhile ago and you were AWESOME! Haha, your dance was great. Actually, before homecoming my friends and I tried to learn it. Out of the four of us only Abbey and I did, but at least we tried.
Anyway, your music is amazing, and I'm hoping to get your new cd soon, as soon as the birthday money comes pouring in. And I vote for Do What You Want for your next single. <3 Andrea

I'd never seen Rufus live before the New York show last night, and I must say that I was damned impressed. And I won't bother telling you how your music is so different that you can't compare the two, apples and oranges, blah, blah, blah. And I've already said in another post how great you are. So I'll just say your dance number was SO better than his and leave it at that.

I missed you guys on Fuse, owing to the fact that I'm totally stressing over this 7 page paper due tomorrow for which I have written 2.5 sentences. (And they're not even good sentences. Also, I was eating dinner.)

Damn, now I'm really pumped for Friday's show. I've never seen Rufus Wainwright, nor have I really listened to any of his stuff, but if he's that fricking amazing...then wow. I'm excited.

And what's up with Damian getting you a pumpkin-spice donut??? You guys need to go to Haymarket when you get here, seriously...

I think Rufus Wainwright's guitarist was slightly flat on one note...actually, I take that back; I'm just imagining things.

If it's any consolation, you were better dressed.

(...And the concert would definitely have been worth paying for/going to without Rufus, as I had no idea who he was when I bought the ticket.)

I'm totally impressed that you guys are on tour with Rufus Wanwright! I've been huge fans of the both of you for a loooooooooooong time, so I'm just extremely annoyed with the fact that I'm stuck universitying in Ontario so I can't come see you. Gah!
Glad to hear that you're enjoying the tour,

oh my gosh. Don't quit. When I saw you guys you in Toronto, I was so amazed you could play 2 instruments and interchange them so easily... I can't even play one. I sucked at the French Horn and could barley hold a note on the recorder. You totally rock. Please come back to Toronto more often.

Bye,

Don't quit, we need you.

BTW, the Pumpkin Pie Cheesecake at Cheesecake Factory is the best seasonal treat of all time. Also, the eggnog shake at Jack In The Box is pretty sweet, too.

Rufus is pretty dope. If you were fishing for songs, you wouldn't want to be sitting downstream from Rufus. The great thing is though that you appreciate great artists and that can only make you better. Great blog!

Was it a Dunkin Donuts pumpkin spice donut? Because I was so sad to see that in all those comments on the Starbucks post, no one recommended Dunkies. Their pumpkin donuts are the second-best in the world, only after their other seasonal offering, the gingerbread donut. Amazing.

Aw, Andy, you just make me wanna hug you and say, "there, there." But don't scare us like that -- how could you even think of quitting with all this love being poured on you? 22 reponses and still going! There are a whole lotta addicts out here wondering how we would get our fix without our daily dose of laughter a-la-Rusty.

True story: Even though Rufus is one of my faves and every bit the musical genius you say he is, you are funnier, more articulate and a helluva lot better lookin'! Not to mention you play a mean guitar solo.

Keep tearin' it up out there on tour.

Rusty! They messed up last night! Rufus had to restart a song three times! And his drummer messed up an entrance and they had to restart!

The only thing is, when Rufus Wainwright messes up, he does it really well. And he's really cute about it. So that probably doesn't actually help any. I'm sorry. I tried.
